Question

Glad you are figuring things out. Are you the same Scott as on PalmTalk? It would be nice if you put a little something on your user page. Don't worry about screwing things up. Everything is easily fixable. --Dypsisdean 19:03, 20 September 2007 (PDT)

RE: Question

Hi Dean, I am the same Scott from the Palm Talk Forum. But should I have responded in my own user talk page? And if so, do you do it by 'editing' the original message? That part I haven't figured out yet. I put the most basic info on my user page, but I don't have a palmy photo of myself to put there. I'll come up with something. Oh yeah I gotta watch that quicktime movie about uploading a picture. Gotta lot to do! Thanks! Scott 20:57, 20 September 2007 (PDT)

  • Scott, there is no right way or wrong way to ask or answer. People have been doing it both ways. I normally answer or respond where ever the original post began. It is a little clunky communicating this way, but you get used to it. You can use the "watch this page" feature at the bottom when you post (along with "my watch list" at the top) to help keep track of where you are communicating with someone. Just play around. It will all become familiar before too long. --Dypsisdean 01:29, 21 September 2007 (PDT)

Hey dude, got chu a pic for your user page. Hope you like it. Why does Kim look like a mannequin at Sears?MattyB 14:49, 17 October 2007 (PDT)

Hey! I think that's a minute or two before Shon removed a thousand ants from the back of my jacket... Kim 20:16, 17 October 2007 (PDT)

  • So I just uploaded a smiley pic of Scott from the first day we met him at the LA Arboretum, but I can't fathom how to move it to his user page. Can somebody 'splain me this? Kim 20:28, 17 October 2007 (PDT)
  • Kim, go to the "gallery of new files" and find the name of the file that you uploaded. Make a note of it. Then go to Scott's Userpage and in the edit mode just copy the write up code of the image that's existing but inserting your file name before the .jpg extension and enter your own caption at the end. For example, check the write up that produced this picture and caption:MattyB 12:09, 18 October 2007 (PDT)
  • Ok, that worked! Scott, nice smile, you look happy! I cut & pasted the write up, can't figure out that vertical line on the keyboard. (???) Kim 13:17, 18 October 2007 (PDT)
  • It's the same key as \ backslash but with shift held down. On mine it's the key right above "enter".

Also, just fyi, the word "thumb" makes it appear as thumbnail instead of just a link that you have to click on, the word "left" or "right" makes it appear on the left or right side of the page, and the 300px means 300 pixels, so you can make it 100px, 450px, etc. so you can size it as desired. As you can see I simply changed the "left" to "right" and it put Scott's picture to the right making it view better in my opinion. I'm sure Dean has a bunch of other tricks you can throw in there too that we haven't learned yet.MattyB 14:10, 18 October 2007 (PDT)

  • Thanks for the tutorial, Matt. Check it out: ||| Next thing you know I'll be putting music on my page like all the cool people have. : ) Kim 15:20, 18 October 2007 (PDT)
