Habitat and distribution
Arenga hookeriana is found in Thailand Peninsula, North Malaysia Peninsula, Habitat: Rainforest.Description
Physical Characteristics, Trunk Type: Clustering, and usually caespitose (growing in tufts or clumps), Stem 1-2 cm in diam., Height: Up to 0.6 to 1.8m (6ft), Spread: Up to 1.5m (5ft) Growth Habit: Clustering, No Crownshaft, Brown Canelike. This is an Understory palm. Trunk Diameter: Up to 20mm (0.75") Leaf Type: Palmate, Leaf Size: Up to 0.6m (2ft) Leaf: Dark Green, Silver Underside, up to 0.8 m long, 0.3 m wide, Petiole: 0.5 m long. Leaves are almost always undivided, oblong, with indented and lobbed margins, and sharp apices. Inflorescences arise between the leaves, about 0.5 m long, simple, rarely ramified, individual peduncles for male and female flowers (on different stems). Fruit: Ellipsoidal, 1.5 cm long, 0.8 cm wide, red when ripe. Editing by edric.

Light: Partial Shade, Soil: Moist, Well Draining, Watering: Regular, Maintain Moisture, Min. Temp:4°C (39°F) Tolerances: Full Sun, Poor Soil, Germination:1-6 Months, 28-32°C ( 82-90°F) This is an Understory palm. Sheltered, shady and moist, through to the sub-tropics.
