There exists a controversy regarding this croton. Some think Satan and Irene Kingsley are the same cultivar with two different names. Others think Satan is a separate cultivar with more pronounced side lobes creating a consistent, trident-shaped leaf. In Dr. Brown's book they are regarded as separate cultivars.
