Cirrus

From Palmpedia

Cirrus: A wire like segment of a palm that acts as a climbing aid. The cirrus emerges from the rachis of the leaf. It is armed and thin. Common amongst the rattan or climbing palms. The cirrus is similar to the flagellum, differing only in point of origin.
