[edit] Habitat and Distribution[edit] DescriptionEndemic to the Solomon Islands, this is a thin trunked solitary, understory palm with short, arching deep green, only partially divided leaves, this species stands on stilt roots. Fruit are deep red and edible (but can be somewhat narcotic, sort of like Areca catechu). Planted on New Guinea around traditional burial grounds. Never gets to be a very tall palm.
