There are four sub-species:
1.) Calyptrogyne panamensis subsp. centralis; Panamá.
2.) Calyptrogyne panamensis subsp. occidentalis; Panamá.
3.) Calyptrogyne panamensis subsp. panamensis; Panamá. A highly attractive dwarf palm found only in rainforests on Cerro Gaital and Cerro Campana in El Valle in Panamás Cocle province with undivided leaves. It is perhaps not know in cultivation but would be best suited to tropical climates. (RPS.com)
4.) Calyptrogyne panamensis subsp. tutensis; Panamá. A very attractive dwarf palm, with undivided leaves, found only in the jungles of Veraguas province of Panama. Perhaps it is not well known in cultivation but would be ideal for tropical climates. (RPS.com)
