These two year old hybrids share a concrete pot that sits over the pump-out hole to the septic tank. The last photo was posted in August as hybrid JLSHYB11120007 The 2nd & third photos are baby picturs.

When we got back to the Keys in October, 0007 was on fire. The two older leaves look like detailing that belongs on a hotrod. Heaven help me if this croton were ever to be named The Heat or Heater.

The leaves mature to jet black. The orange is bold. It reminds me of an early painting in a cave or warpaint. That's a possibility.

Each set of leaves is similiar in size and markings. Prior to the last flush, the largest leaves were 5 inches at the shoulder and 10 in long. The newest flush is 5 in by 13 inches.
It's going to be fun watching this guy.

Great looking Croton there Jerry. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I will not mince words here. Simply put, if I had Jerry's crotons - I'd yank mine out.

Could Jerry be the modern version of Ralph Davis / Henry Coppinger? Will he be talked about as such by crotonheads 40 years into the future?
