I'm often asked what is my favorite palm. And of course I can never answer. However, this palm may very well be my favorite palmate (fan) palm. It has a curious nature of opening up the full leaf full size, and then the petiole elongates out to its full length.

The silver backside is especially nice if you have any landscape lighting, especially when contrasted against the glossy black of the petioles. I have about 10-12 of these in the ground, and could find room for more. Definitely named K. elegans for a reason.
