Just curious if there is a croton cultivar availability list for this event?

Typically there is not as large a selection as the Fall event. But knowing Jeff there will be some nice unusual gems.

Looking forward to seeing fellow crotonheads there!

    Ron,

Your timing in creating this topic is incredible as you saved me from having to do it. :) I have the Croton list for the upcoming Spring Extravaganza and also the Palm & Cycad list as well. I will post them both here and include a notification on Palmtalk as to their location. This will certainly save me time in sending the lists out, but can still do so if anyone needs a copy sent, or has any problems copying the lists from here. Let me know if you need a copy sent to you. I tried to post the .doc file itself as an attachment for those interested in downloading it, but the file size was too large.

    Spring 2011 - Croton List
*I would say the following list is 98% complete, as there are still four days remaining in the preparation for the sale...

    - A few Croton photos to entice and to enthrall the senses. The Croton section is getting there, with fewer cultivars than last Fall but with still some interesting ones to look through.

    - Ortega's Hybrid (#3 gal.) - I had to add this one to the main list and Jeff mentioned it was one cultivar he had not had for sale before. I did not notice there was so much glare at the time I took the photo.

    - Magnificent (#3 gal.) - This cultivar is probably considered more common now, but the color pattern is always interesting.

I was going to go on Saturday. The list changed my mind and I had to beg the boss to give me Friday off! The moose will be loose and pawing his hoof at the gate at 8:00 am! I don't think we will have frost like last year, LOL!

I'm very sorry to hear that. It is disgusting to think another croton collector would stoop that low. Another thing, I don't think it is funny when I hear collectors brag about their less than ethical croton cutting stealing.

Mike's cart got nixed, then Randy's cart got nixed, then mine. We think that the palm people may have rushed in then found they needed a cart then grabbed the "empty Carts" found by the croton section. It was the usual pandamonium in the croton section. I found a Ortega's Hydrid in the Croton area, not on Mike's cart. Randy was zoning in on it from a tip from Judy, but I snatched it. As it grows, I will give cuttings to these gentlemen as a courtesy and they are also friends of mine. The "borrowing" of crotons from people's carts that line up early at the gate is a bit inappropriate in my opinion. :(

I would like to personally thank all of you that dropped by and maybe found a plant to buy. I'm sorry my collection that was offered is not what it is in the fall. And, a big "THANKS" to those of you that hung out and vollunteered for a day or even two. Judy and Jim Glock, Ray, Rob and even Ron, who stuck around for the whole day on friday and talked it up. It was a great time to see all of you and even meet a few new people. It was nice to put a face with a name(Bullwinkle).

    Thanks again!
    Jeff
