This palm has attracted a bit of attention this weekend around the neighborhood.

Ron, I got the palm as Dypsis ambositrae some years ago at a CFPACS gathering. I have my doubts as it looks different from photos I have seen of D. ambositrae. Here are a few other photos taken today that may help someone give a ID.

I believe that is what became known as the fine leaf Ambositrae - not an accurate name. It has since been described, and is known as Dypsis plumosa.

A shot of the entire palm will help me a lot to positively confirm.

Dean, I checked D. plumose in the Wiki and I believe you are right on. Taking a great photo of the entire palm is not easy in its planting location in the garden. Here is the best I can do...

Yep Scott - that's what it is. This came in and was sold as D. ambositrae for a very long time, until it was discovered it was not. It was a very colorful seedling that attracted a lot of attention. But what was it really? Nobody knew. It was a new species, only recently described.
