I am not good with IDs but I do not see Buddy, at least not the pictures I have seen of Buddy. But what do I know.
Scott - This was positively identified as "Buddy" by the gang who were here for the Croton Society meeting last year. It's from cuttings I brought home from Jamaica and I'd been call it "Kingston". All of what you see is new growth, as this was completely defoliated during the winter. But the red midvein is a dead giveaway.
Per Bob Alonzo, Buddy is also Edwin Lonsdale
Yours looks like Buddy, the plant I have has purple with a red vein on the backside of the leaves. In this picture here, if you look at the leaves towards the back you can see a little of the back of a leaf.
Here is a picture ,of the second plant I picked up. I think it is the same, leaves look a little diffrent and has no yellow, backside of leaves purple. These were found mixed in with about 300 Gloriosum Superbum and stood out like a sore thumb. At 2.50 I thought I would get them.
