    An obituary appeared in the Ft. Myers News Press today announcing the passage of J.R.Renfroe. He was a well known croton collector and hybridizer in this area . His hobbys also included a green house with over 5,000 orchids.

    I never met Mr. Renfroe, but The Croton Society 2007 calendar featured some of his hybridized beauties!

    Agreat loss for the croton world. He was a nice man, but very quiet. It was a honor to have known him. He and his wife Nita were founding members of the croton society.They taught me everything I know about hybridizing crotons. Mike, they do have some beautiful hybrids, the next time your down, I can show you 13 outstanding hybrids.
