    Makes me wonder if mooseland has resident woodpeckers nesting... I got 2 pairs..always fun to observe...

    Mark - Have not heard them. The dead tree was a Norfolk Island Pine that was inherited when the property was purchased. Its pretty darn hard wood due to all the cured sap in it. I think squirrels have nested in it in the past. There was a hawk that used to sit atop the tree each evening dining on morning dove, which I have plenty of. Its been awhile since I've seen the hawk. Foxes stop by now and then.
