After the meeting at Ricky's, we returned to Gloria's house in South Miami. Our conversation on the ride back was focused on a cultivar that she has growing in some very heavy shade.

Gloria purchased her home 10 years ago from the original owners. This croton is at least 8 ft. tall and approximately 13 ft. wide. The base of the trunk is 5 to 6 inches in diameter. This specimen I estimate to be over 50 years old. The lower leaves are in deep shade and the coloring is not very remarkable. Where the leaves receive a dappling of filtered sun rays, we find orange coloration with blushes of reds and some hinting of pink.

Anyone have an idea what this cultivar may be. Could this be an oldie cultivar?

Ron. :)

Would this be cultivar be commonly available? Jeff had some of them available at his sale but I believe they got grabbed by the collectors early. Should some airlayers of this croton be made?
