These exotic "Tropical" Hibiscus will not only grow well outside of the tropics in most temperate climates, but they are easily hybridized if you know how and have a little patience. Or you can just buy already hybridized seeds and grow unique cultivars that will be the first of its kind.

View this video for an easily understood tutorial of how you can hybridize and grow your very own.

Thanks Bren - you should give it a try. :)

Or maybe pick up a few seeds in an auction first, and see if you "catch the bug" after growing a never before seen flower.

I have a true appreciation for hibiscus. Perhaps when I get to the point where the garden doesn't need so much attention I will do more potted plants. Our nematodes attack them in ground. I killed many at the last house :)
