I had the good fortune to do some killer CRA & PRA over the last two days. Today, I got to hang out with George for a short while, and he showed me all of what he has been creating. It was like a croton laboratory! He asked me to post on a few of his newly named hybrid creations on his behalf, so here goes:
The first cultivar is Shea Leigh. This is named after Jack Miller's newly born granddaughter. 20150812_103459.jpg 20150812_103512.jpg 20150812_103535.jpg 20150812_103550_HDR.jpg

Next is Gary Boyer. I saw the host plant and the yellow coloration turns white. Very nice plant and good grower. The light wasn't really agreeing with us for the photos. George looked like a contortionist trying to block out the sun so we could get a decent pic. 20150812_103614.jpg 20150812_103637.jpg 20150812_103646.jpg

It was very difficult to get a good photo due to the overhead light again, but I tried my best. George again was trying to help me with blocking the sun. It is a beautiful plant, however, and I look forward to seeing this plant grow out.

Next is a real stunner. Of course I am partial here, because George honored me with naming this croton after me, Tim O'Donnel. Thank you very much George! 20150812_104149.jpg 20150812_104202.jpg 20150812_173921.jpg 20150812_173933.jpg The first two pics are of the host plant. George wanted to show the interior of the plant to exhibit some of the cool characteristics it has. The second two pics are of the plant he gave me to take to Key West. Again, tough lighting conditions, but I'll be able to make periodic updates as it grows.

Oh, George, I feel honored! Thanks so much! All the plants are beautiful! I now know what it takes and how long it takes to develop a plant. You selected beautifully. Please give us updates periodically.:) Tim, thanks for the photos!

Mike, we discussed that and he wants to wait until next year to host. He was hoping there would be a west coast event this year.

Ooooohhhh.... I'd love to see George's place and all his creations! Maybe he'd be willing to do spring? I was hoping to host next fall since my plants take a while to get going in the spring after a cool/cold winter up here. I think I will be ready enough a year from this coming fall. I've only been collecting since 2013, so I think you can understand it takes at least three years to get a few plants and have them grow in a little bit. Tim, do you think George would host in spring? Why doesn't George post? He'd be such a great contributor to our forum! Please talk him into it! George, we know you're out there....:p

Ana is now immortal - she has a plant named after her. At least as long as there are collector's interested in growing the Ana Bowers.

George sent me a bunch of pictures today of seedlings he has coming on. There is some great looking stuff here. Nothing has been named yet. He said he is looking forward to hosting a tour and auction next year. 20151104_105055.jpg 20151104_105055.jpg 20151105_172150.jpg 20151105_172308.jpg

Wow, wow, wow, so many gorgeous ones! Congrats! I now know how much work it is and how long it takes to hybridize crotons. Maybe I'll be able to get one or two nice ones. Yours are amazing!

That last one is absolutely over the top. Color leaf back of the leaf full growth style grace and beauty. I think I would call this one Medusa. When I look at it I'm mesmerized.

Think about it. The old guys we think about, bachman, etc., only had a few really good ones each. George might end up doing more than that

Great work George, outstanding and it wants to sport. Your growth rates are outstanding are they even two years old?
