EDWIN T. MEREDITHCategory: NARROW LEAF

Bush type croton that does not get leggy. Named after E.T.Meredith the founder of the magazine that later became Better Homes and Gardens.

Type B, 1-1/2" x 12", - Long narrow leaves, veins and midrib long outlined brilliant yellow and leaf more or less splashed yellow. An improvement on WEISMANII*, the leaves being longer and plant more vigorous grower. REF: Paper prepared by Wm. A. Geiger in collaboration with Mr. Christian of the Christian Nursery, Mr. Van der Lean and Mr. George L. Peacock. p.10, p.16.

Long, narrow leaves, brilliantly colored mustard yellow with red petioles. REF: Reasoner's Tropical Nurseries Inc, croton listing. Group 1, Common Varieties, p.2.

FORUM CONTRIBUTORS:

SCOTT MCINTOSH: “Is Edwin T Meredith more of a spreading grower than a height grower? Mine grows out more than up. It is going to get lost in the back if it doesn't gain much height.”

RAY HERNANDEZ: “Edwin T. Meredith - another narrow leaved, mustard yellow variety with veining a bit less distinct than Sunray but no blotching or spotting like Weismanii. The dead giveaway here is the red petioles.”

Photos 12 thru 18: Let’s finish this pictorial with 7 full, horizontal view photographs of how some Costa Ricans use the Edwin T. Meredith Croton in their home gardens. A couple of them have grown so large they cover most of the front or side of a house. :)

Wow,very nice, looks very similar to what Tikiriki has been calling Easter??Ricks plant has no yellow but it gets very little light.

For Mike, Moose and Ann: Thank you for your kind words…it always feels good when someone enjoys one’s work and takes the time to acknowledge it. :)

Robert, You have done yet another great "costa-rica-croton-wandering". Great shots on a great croton. Thanks again!

Here is a wandering out my back door of Edwin T Meredith growing in dappled sun.Img_5888.jpg Img_5889.jpg Img_5895.jpg Img_5894.jpg Img_5890.jpg Img_5893.jpg

For Scott and Moose…thank you for sharing your “wandering” photos of Codiaeum Edwin T. Meredith. Scott…that’s quite a looker you have in your garden.

Thanks guys, your photographs serve to enhance the above pictorial and give the “struggling newbie” a better look at the nuances a Croton can throw at you. :)
