Coconut palm as a scandant vine

    This coconut went over in Hurricane Francis in 2004. Undeterred by most of its root system growing out of the ground, it curved around to find the sun. Take a look at an older Philodendron selloum, a true scandant vine, and they could be distant cousins!

    I've seen some weird shapes of palms, but I'm still waiting to see one tied in a knot. :)
