The photo in Crotons of the World of Chief is misrepresentative of this cultivar in my opinion. To be honest, I thought it looked only OK in the book.

Then I saw the one at Jeff's home during the garden tour November 19th. It abruptly changed my view on this croton. Ironically, Bullwinkle (Mike) showed up at the Moose Land with a gift of a Chief shortly thereafter.

Here is the little one I got from Mike, with a couple of close-ups of the leaves.

A real winner in the landscape; moderatge growth for me and reasonably cold tolerant.

Can we say there is a Chief complex without ruffling feathers?
