Yep - we have our visitors from China - most of the time they are trying to hack their way in. What most of you don't realize is that websites are constantly "attacked" relentlessly throughout the day. Spammers and scammers trying to gain access for a variety of different reasons - all of them bad. It is a giant pain in the brain for Web Admins and requires a lot of time and effort to defend against it.

  3. I'm guessing that only high-ranking, commie party members, would have access to the world wide web. I bet that the ordinary Chinese people are stuck with some kind of local, commieweb. And if the Chicoms have hacked into the restricted area, I'm sure that there is one participant there that they would really love. :)

They try to get anything they can - from email addresses and any personal info they can use for nefarious reasons - to just general knowledge, that if useful they just copy and use it as their own.

In addition, if they gain access as a user, then they use the platform as a place to advertise their whatever, from fake products, to porn sites. And if they are really successful, they can take over the server and lock the owner out. And then use it to start sending stuff from their mailing lists ( with tens of thousands of names). And because it looks like it is from a legit server/address, none of the spam filters can stop any of it.

And then - I think some hackers just do it for the challenge - trying to outsmart the software designers and web admins. It is definitely a cat and mouse type of situation.
