    I do not think that is normal for a orange b.o.p. Really neat looking, thanks for posting the pictures.

    Thanks for the feedback because I have no idea. I've walked and driven by that plant a million times and never really looked at it because I am so over BOPs because I had a lot in San Diego when I lived there. I'm not sure that happened last time it bloomed. You can see another double in the background of the first pic.

    MY giant BOPs do this quite often. Can't say that I have noticed it with the small ones however.

    Yes Alan, it's the Orange Bird of Paradise, Strelitzia reginae.
