A Nice "Joey" - Johannesteijsmannia altifrons

    I planted a lot of these Johannesteijsmannia altifrons and a few have this wider leaf than most. But in addition, this one has some nice yellow striping on the petioles. I'm not sure how common this is, as most of the others in the garden do not have it.

    At any rate, these are one of those palms that if you can grow it, you have to have a few.

    Somebody in Livermore- inland from Hayward by 25 miles,says he has one growing outdoors. Young,but growing. You never know unless you try.

    I know of one in San Clemente, close to the beach, that has been growing for many years. I don't know how it looks today - but it was in a protected area outdoors.
