    The cold snap.

Hi guys! Where is everybody? Are you like me? I am still feeling like those iguanas that are falling from the trees: I can barely move. We did a lot of traveling in December but we were back just before the cold snap and I managed to cover my plants. How are yours? I also need advice as to how...

    My report on crotons

I have accumulated about hundred of crotons some of which were generous gifts and I feel like it is time to show how they are doing. I will start with seedling Pixie brought to me personally by Lamar with the right to name it :) and with my favorite Edwin T. Meredith generously given to me by...

    Spider mites

The weather is hot and dry and they are everywhere! I keep washing my potted plants, but the spider mites keep coming back, and crotons in the ground are already infested. I've just ordered the ladybugs. What else can I do?

Big thank you to Phil for his wonderful presentation

Yesterday Phil Stager gave his "Colorful Crotons" presentation for our garden club. Most of people knew very little or nothing about crotons before. Everybody loved the presentation and Phil :) I hope there will be more "croton heads" developing in our community and may be one day we can even...

Are there any edible tropical mushrooms??

I love mushrooms…I had a very happy time collecting them as a kid (5-6 years old). I knew them by their look and smell…which are good. Some look pretty edible to me in Florida. …but my husband doesn't want to try them:rolleyes: How can I find out if they are edible??:p

    Slugs and snails

I have a lot of slugs and snails eating everything in my garden. I believe I was breeding them last year by my crazy planting and watering. I am pretty successful with the beer traps but the problem is I would love this beer for myself :( What is the best way to get rid of them? I’ve just...

    A Big Thank You note

I asked Scott to take a look at my garden and he showed up with a lot of plants that I couldn’t even dream of finding here. All plants are neatly labeled for outdoors :) His experience is amazing! Now I am taking pictures “before” Scott and then “after”. I was asked to put my house on our...

    Mislabeling

I bought something very small in Wal-Mart from the “Exotic Angels plants”. Sure enough their “Bush On Fire” looks exactly like my “Red Batik” from the Lowe’s last year… I haven’t check the synonyms yet (they may be the same plant) but there are (in Wal-Mart) plenty of “Yellow Iceton” for sale...
