    Fresh cross

X = ? Reliance X Stoplight Pollinating Reliance flowers with Stoplight pollen yesterday and today... Hope some seeds set. I think this could be a good hybrid - both of these varieties tolerated some low temps and crowding in the greenhouse last winter with very little leaf drop.

    Seedlings

I think we should set up a seedlings section in the Wiki as a place to store all these great seedling photos in one area. I'm thinking Sergey's little beautys... Marie's Tangerine Twist... Chris's beautiful babies... and others... What say y'all?

    Which crotons flower the most?

I read somewhere that Madam Fernand Kohl flowers a lot, and was a favorite breeding stock of Aubrey Christian for that reason... And Rheedii rarely flowers? I need some more floriferous crotons if I'm ever going to get much seed. Anyone out there needing to cut back their Madam Fernand...

    More sticks

My Moose sticks (thanks again Ron!) from last year are on the front left section of this greenhouse bench, with several Black Beautys growing nicely on the front corner. Most of the other crotons on the bench were also grown from small cuttings.

    New Crotons

Many many thanks to Toby for sending me all these croton sticks a few weeks ago, not to mention a nice plumeria stem and a little orchid that I almost missed in the newspaper packing :) He said he was just paying it forward for all the nice folks that gave him crotons over the years, so I...

    John Halgrim Jr.

I've always thought this was a fantastic looking croton as pictured on page 82 in Crotons of the World... Is this one still around? Anyone have pictures of this variety? Did anyone ever ask Dr. Brown if we can post his photos in the wiki?

    Old Illustrations

Found some cool old croton drawings on http://www.plantillustrations.org/ Many of these drawings are from L’Illustration horticole, with some from other old publications... Many were contributed by the Missouri Botanical Garden... Just trying to give credit where possible - more details are...

    Suggestion

Since the Croton Society is officially no more, perhaps we should change the name of this forum from "The Croton Society" to something else... My suggestion would be "The International Croton Forum"...

    'Disraeli vs. 'Mrs. Snyder's Disraeli'

Anyone know where/when "Mrs. Snyder's" was added to the name? I can find 'Disraeli' in books all the way back to the 1870's but cannot find anything on 'Mrs. Snyder's Disraeli'. It seems 'Disraeli' originated in Sydney, Australia... From the The Gardener's Monthly and Horticulturist, Volume 20...

    Refresher ID

I bought this one last year as 'Excellent' but I think it was ID'd here as something else, maybe 'Gloriosum Superbum'? I have seen pics on the internet of similar plants labeled as 'Excellent'... Are these two varieties the same thing?

    Petra sport update

Some fresh pictures of the Petra sport I found last year (http://www.palmpedia.net/forum/showthread.php?2216-Find-of-the-day...) Sort of a blotched Petra, still on the mother plant, only time will tell if this sport will stabilize into anything good...

    Seeds

Anyone know how long croton seeds will last before planting? I finally harvested my first seeds - only had ten seeds out of eight pods of Bravo X Petra. I would rather wait for sunny warm spring weather to sow them, but I know many Euphorbiaceae seeds have a short-lived viability.... Anyone...

    Hey Dean

Just curious if there is a way that I can turn off the pop-up photo viewer here... I could not find a setting for it anywhere... Reason I ask is that I already have a photo viewing extension (installed on my Chrome browser) that is much faster than the one here, but the one here takes over...
