The Royal Poinciannas have been going off here in South Florida since the first week in May. They have not reached full tilt but today after 3 days of heavy rain they are a thing of beauty.

I remember my Grandmother had a term for the Tree but I cannot remember the exact phrase. It's essence had to do with the fact that most of the seasonal Florida Winter folks always missed it's beauty. It will knock your socks off!

This was taken in May of 2010- my wife and I spent a week there to celebrate our anniversary. Key West is one of my favorite places to visit.

I think to most people in the USA,judging by photographs,Royal Poinciana looks much like Abibizia. I planted some seeds in early summer and they have grown into nice looking seedlings. A darker green then Albizia, larger leaves.
I planted a few out in one of the hottest spots I have. So much reflected heat that bop leaves will burn if a bit low on water.
They should stay in leaf until spring?...my first try with them.
