Hello from sunny Delaware and maybe the biggest croton collection in the Mid-Atlantic states! (not bragging... it's more of an addition). Some of you may still remember me - I haven't posted in a few years - just wanted to let folks I am still here. My croton collection is bigger than ever...

I agree with the idea of Croton Society plant sales, once or twice a year - in fact sales could be the main reason for keeping the Society around. A sale is a great way to bring in the "general public" and generate new interest in crotons. New people will be more apt to come to croton "sale"...

This might be old news - and maybe I missed some posts about this - but is the Croton Society folding? I found an old e-mail from Connie that said it was because no one wanted to work for the society anymore. Just wondering... esp. if there is an update?

You are correct !!! My crotons have been inside for 2 weeks already... and they won't be outside again until early May 2012. So there won't be much chance for them to color up in the full sun for a while - though I get some sun in my sunroom in the winter.

Does Stoplight need a lot of sun to develop colors? Mine is with all my other crotons, some of which have great coloration, but it has been staying very dark green. My Stoplight is the dark green one in the lower right of this photo. Yet a few feet away I have these colors on my Gloriosa (or...

We are having some unusually early cold here in Delaware. My potted croton collection is still outside. Do I need to worry about a night with a low temp in the low 40s? I hate to bring all my plants in too early - they do best outside in the sunshine and fresh air until right before a frost.

But could it be a Disraeli? I think I had one before (that didn't make it) and it looks similar from the photo. It's still on the way here so I don't have the plant in my possession yet to really check it. Too bad I am getting this new croton so late - my other crotons have really done well...
