    Royal Poincianna

The Royal Poinciannas have been going off here in South Florida since the first week in May. They have not reached full tilt but today after 3 days of heavy rain they are a thing of beauty. I remember my Grandmother had a term for the Tree but I cannot remember the exact phrase. It's essence...

    Jubaeopsis caffra

This is one of the most beautiful palms I have seen. Palm literature limits it's range to Mediterrean climates but I recently saw a picture of a well grown specimen in St. Pete, Florida next to a equally well grown Coconut.

    Neoveitchia storckii

This interesting palm is endemic to the island of Viti Levu in the Fiji Islands. In habitat, it is in great danger as it is a primary palm used for house construction in the low mountainous rain forest. It is limited to what Rifle and Craft describe as Zone 11 and marginal in Zone 10b. In...

Lethal Yellow - A Few Questions

Palmn, Maintenance and liability be damned. Give me my coconuts! I have watched as a kid in a Hurricane a coconut off an untrimmed tree hit a car like cannon ball. I am an attorney that does not chase ambulances but I know of no "coconut cases" here. I am not saying it could not happen but the...

Lethal Yellow - A Few Questions

Palmn, As I stated in my Post, the Town of Palm Beach has sucessfully managed LY through anti-biotics since LY hit and no less than 1,000 Jamaican Talls live quite healthily to date.Even specimens supposedly sensitive(Ie Prichardia's,Manillians, blah, blah and blah) to LY are currently unaffected...

Lethal Yellow - A Few Questions

I have attempted to do some reading on LY throughout the Internet. It is disarming to see it's apparent resurgence again in Jamaica and spread to Guatamala and Honduras. I also see it's spread to Sri Lanka but do not know if the mass destruction of trees in that region was sucessful. Hawaii will...

    Dypsis lutescens

In South Florida Dypsis l. is referred to mysteriously as Areca. This Palm is frequently used as a fast growing privacy hedge. It is a thing of beauty and also utilitarian after Hurricanes when a quick growing privacy hedge is in order.

    Wal's World

I just completed about three of Wal's production videos. I am blown away by the spectacular beauty of those magnificient Palms in Darwin. Wal is the real deal and his understated commentary is priceless. Money is deserved.
