I have found the secret to using white vinegar as a weed killer is to use it on the small newly sprouted weeds. Don't let them get to big or established. If used on mature weeds it may temporarily kill the or burn the foliage, but it won't kill the entire plant.

But, if you use it when the weeds are still small and tender, it will kill the roots too - maybe not on all weeds, but a lot of them.

I am experimenting on using it as a soil acidifier for acid loving plants using 1 cup to 1 gal of water into the soil around the plant.
