Another ppicture of the old oak tree They estimate at 325 years old . Two trees stretch tip to tip 1/2 acre. Makes for a great natural greenhouse ..

David, How to you keep Zanzibar looking so great? Zanzibar is my favorite of all Crotons, but it looks like I am not its favorite person. I have 5 and they all look like (BLEEP). The overall look under the oak is outstanding. Thanks for all the great photos!

Im not sure , i think its just the filtered light most of the day , in the winter it gets more direct light , but not as strong . all my plants are in planters , they like larger than normal planters . thanks

Beautiful David. Your MR HITCHCOCK looks like one I have. Mmmmmm:roll eyes: Do you know any history on it?

I GOT HTIS PLANT ABOUT 12 years ago from a plantation house on the river . the house was built at the begining of the century around 1900 . i did some work a long time ago for them and remembered the giant crotons, and i mean giant some 20 ft all had name tags in metal . Many year later i visited the place and there was a new owner .a lot of the old plants looked bad i asked if he wanted to sell any and he offered me to have some if id like they were clearing some land , i got about 10 plants . This was one it had a medal tag on it saying Mr HITCHCOCK . I had to cut it back to transplant it was 15 ft then . it almost didnt make it . it took 5 years for it to fully come back. now its lookn good again . If it was in the ground it would be a lot better . all my plants are in Planters . It really looks simular to the tiger eye , but not exactly . They had General pagents 20 ft plus and had a large greenhouse Full of all kinds , some ive never seen or have ever seen again . he gave me a jar of hybrid seeds and have been trying to get them to grow . they were really old seeds only 1 out of every 200 or so sprouted . but they are going to be nice one day i hope . I hope tp post some of the seedlings soon . One of them was the one i named the FREAK , ive posted about it before . it was great talking about the croton adventures . Thanks

After closer scrutiny I see some similarities but not quite the same. At first I thought mine was a Nestor, but I'm not sure of that either as Nestors have more pink. Oh well:rolleyes:DSC_0012.jpg
