Nice pictures Ron! You got me thinking  Centerfold would make a good name for a Croton. Do these "bunnies" come with names?

Thanks again Ron! Nothing like good Croton on a Sunday morning. :p

Here are the last four images. I left the names off to test Ana's croton eye. She has developed her eye faster anyone else I've known.

Anyone can play. I'll calculate the % correct. Some are noids, they will not be counted against the %. There are a few duplicate cultivars, so don't be afraid to use a name more than once. Total photos: 43 The names will be revealed prior to the next croton tour. :D

Ron your plants look great. Very sexy! They are showing lots of reds, I wonder if it's a regional thing?

Toby - it may be several factors:

1 - many are growing in some heavy shade.
2 - most photos were taken in the late evening to just after sundown
3 - the flash may be manifesting colors recorded by the camera, not seen in natural light by the naked eye
4 - many of the images are of a single growth head or just a couple of leaves. This may not be indicative of the overall appearance of the plant.
5 - Possibly its just a Moose Land thing, all that composted oak leaves and heavy mulching sitting atop my limestone soil

Hmmm, I guess that no one wants to attempt the croton eye test ...

Ron,

I for one don't try to make too many ID's from looking at pictures here. It's just to dang hard. I say, dig up all these crotons and repot them and bring them by on Saturday. THEN.....you''ll get some ID's! Lol.

Alright, Ron, I'll bite.

Wow Ana - most impressive! You guessed at 31, 24 correct for a 77.41% score!!!

The one you ID'd as King of Siam, I gave you credit. Its an unknown Thai hybrid I got from Mike Woolery. By the picture you could not tell. It does a few wierd things with the ends of the leaves. Honestly, I really don't know what it is.

You guessed at more than 31 but, some were yet to be ID'd plants from Dr. Brown's garden. There was one that is an unknown from the Ralph Davis estate. The unknowns were not held against your score.

All that work you've done on the Wiki sure has sharpened your croton eye. If you keep visiting alot of peoples gardens, you could become the next Bob Alonso at the rate your croton eye is developing :D

Outstanding!!!

OK Ana - after all your hard work on the Wiki - you deserve the ID's. Not like all these sideline Joes, LOL :D

Croton #1 you ID'd as Kentucky vs. Excellent? It is Unknown #5 from Dr. Frank Brown's Garden. Nobody has been able to ID it so far - so this was not calculated in your score. You cannot tell from this picture but this croton developes some very nice oranges. It has an air layer on it promised to TikiRick awhile ago. Source: Dr. Brown
Croton #2 you ID'd as Dayspring. It is Unknown #19 from Dr. Frank Brown's Garden. Nobody has been able to ID this one either. Not held against your scoring. Chris Mayhew saw this croton just last Saturday and likes it alot! Source: Dr. Brown
Croton #3 you ID'd as Pop's Yard. You are correct. Its a different plant than the one in post #3. Source: Mr. Searle

Oh, by the way - Happy Birthday Rick !

Croton #1 You ID'd as Doris. You are correct. Source: Chris Mayhew
Croton #2 You ID'd as Sybil Griffin. It is actually a Rembrandt. Your ID was not held against your score. It does resemble a very colored up Sybil. Also I felt it unfair to have to ID a plant from just a single leaf. Source: Judy Glock
Croton #3 you ID'd as Inca. It is actually an Unknown from the Ralph Davis Estate. Its definitely not Inca. Yout ID was not held against your score. Source: I've been sworn to secrecy - sorry.

Croton #1 you ID'd as King of Siam. It is an unknown Thai Hybrid from a garden down in Homestead, FL. Do to the uncertainty as too its "true" name - this ID was not held against your score. It has more reddish color than the Queen of Siam and is much, much slower. Possibly may be a King of Siam, who knows? Source: Mike Woolery

Croton #2 you ID'd as Angel Wing vs. Princess Eugenia. It is actually a Bimbo. Source: Marie Nock

Croton #3 you ID'd as Columbiana?. It is a Shady Lane. Source: Marie Nock
