Please join us on Saturday Oct 27 at 7 pm in the Garden House at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden for a presentation by Dr. Kiat Tan about the “Gardens by the Bay: A New Garden for Singapore.”

Dr. Tan was a speaker at the Tropical Flowering Tree Society’s 2006 Color Conference. At that time he showed us the plans for this monumental project. Today it is a reality and we will see the stunning results.

Dr. Tan began his career at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota. He was the first Director of the Orchid Identification Center of the American Orchid Society, the Director of the Museum of Botany and the Arts also at Selby. In 1983 became the Director of the Singapore Botanical Gardens and later the first CEO of Parks for the National Parks Board in Singapore. Dr. Tan headed the development of “Gardens by the Bay”.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet Dr. Tan . There will be a Wine and Cheese reception before the presentation hosted by the Tropical Flowering Tree Society, The American Orchid Society and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.

I would love to get a copy of Dr. Tan's power point presentation to post. His lecture was phenominal. What a crowd, 300+ showing up!

Visited with many people I have not seen in years. Dr. Tan really packed the house with plant people of all persuasions. If you did not attend, you really missed out.
