To me, it looks closest to AFD#7, just not 100% sure. The croton in your last link above my comments dosen't look like any AFD#7 I have ever seen. And it's not a William Jennings Bryan.

The photos in post #3 and 4 are what I consider to be AFD #7. The plant in post #1 is what Johnny Shelton called the AFD mystery. I've heard some call it Nervia.

The croton in the link resembles Van Houtii.

Thanks guys! On the AFD subject, lets look at these three. Purchased as AFD7 last year with 3 plants in the pot. Is this (pics 3 & 4) a bloched AFD in the group or something else? Is there such a thing as blotched AFD7 ?

You have the first reported blotched AFD? Keep us posted on how this progresses. I finally got a nice air layer off blotched Gonzalez; both the parent blotched branch and air layer are doing fine. Just two more examples of the genetic variability in this plant. Why are there not more blotched whatevers around? They are not propagated extensively so hardlfy anyone knows of it much less grows it.

Speaking of blotching on crotons, could this be blotched goldenglow?

Phil, If it is a blotched AFD 7 and you have not seen one, it should not be in my garden.

Scott - your latest pic does not look at all like Golden Glow - no shoulders which are typical of this Coppinger plant. It looks more like a Sturrock's Pink Vietchia or a similar looking one I got from Mike.

Phil, That comes as a shock to me. I have had the plant labeled as Golden Glow. I got the plant at the Sept 2010 Societys auction and it was said to be Golden Glow.

Here's a few pics of Golden Glow (2), Sturrock's Pink Vietchia, and Mike's Mystery- no idea how pics will finally appear so here goes

order of pics screwed up again - Golddn Glow are bottom two; ULis Mike's Mystery; UR is Sturrocks Pink Vietchia

Phil, The screwed up order of pics happens in my posts often. Looks right in my preview of the post, post it and it looks different. I have learned to go back and edit after I hit post.

I think the trick may be that if you use the "original" numbered file names like DSC14.jpg DSC16.jpg - that when you upload them, or when they are posted, the software wants to put them in order. If you guys could try renaming them, or keep this in mind, it may or may not help. Please let me know if this makes a difference.

Dean - I always describe the photos in the alphanumeric order in which they are filed. Sometimes, but not always, they come out jumbled after the preview. Beats the ___ outa me - but then we're dealing with crotons so not a lot surprises me.

1&2 Diane 3&4 Unknown 5&6 C. star. Lets see if these stay in order. In preview of post they look correct. Two column of pics, but when I post they will go to single column.

Above post: Mixed the numeric order and the pics stayed in order posted, but placed in single column compared to post preview.
