It was my desire to get some more crotons in the ground on Memorial Weekend. On Saturday Bullwinkle dropped by and we strolled through Moose Land comparing our croton bug obsessions. I had no idea that Bullwinkle was a palm aficionado as well. His knowledge of palms and indentification abilities (Coccothrinax especially) was most impressive. :)

Here is a list of cultivars that got planted Memorial Weekend. I will try and post some pictures later.

President Eisenhower
Yuletide
Compte' de Germiny
Joe Friday
Her Highness
Acuboefolium
Irene Kingsley
Weismannii
Col. Bob Bullock

Compte' de Germiny was in heavy shade and is flushing green leaves. Now that it is getting filtered light, it should color up nicely as the growing season progresses. :)

Col. Bob Bullock starting to flush new leaves. :) I made a really big hole and amended the soil trying to help the root system get established. Does anyone know the rate of growth on this croton?

So this means you know longer have a pot grotto? Everything is now in the ground? I wish I could say that. I just don't trust our winters here.

You guys have cyrppy minds.

Bren - In response to your assumption that the "pot grotto" no longer exists, that would be erroneous. As a matter of fact, its getting out of control.

67 crotons in containers as of this moment.
21 more air layers to get potted up hopefully today.
Bullwinkle came by and gifted me 8 of the 67. He left with only 4 from me, so at least I don't have 71.
38 are air layers that got potted up in the last couple of weeks.
There are another 20 air layers not at the moose land that will be harvested in the next three weeks.

My neighbors think I am insane. Some should be heading to St. Petersburg for the auction. :)

Embassy before and after. You can see that Embassy is not a particularly fast cultivar.
