here's a good reason why a few leaves or cutting can be difficult to identify. All the pics are Gen Mac - but some in shade and last one in sun...

I had thought at one time this was thought to be Gen. Macarthur. Yes, no? It is one of my larger plants in a 10 gal and about 5' tall.

Definetely not a Gen Mac. GM has a semi oak leaf shape (and lots of unsusual coloring and patterns depending on light). Once you see a larger specimen then the whole thing starts to make some sense.
 
General MacArthur.jpg
One of the easier to locate cultivars and for good reason. Relatively fast, large leaves with brilliant colors. What is not to love about a nicely hued General MacArthur?
