That's the Red King. It's a very slow grower, hates the sun, and often will sit in the ground as a rooted cutting for a year or two before doing anything at all.

Possible Norma? How much sun is it getting? How big are the leaves Scott?

It's very likely that The Red King, or at least what I was sold as The Red King, is actually Norma.

Plant is growing in light shade with filtered sun. Leaves are 6" long.

My Norma is in high light like Scott's and it's showing a ton of orange unlike Scott's. My Norma has also never had an all red leaf like his.

Norma varies greatly. I know parts of my plant are almost solid black, parts have amazing color, some are just green and yellow.
I believe the plant is Norma also

The only name I've ever heard for that one is the "American Thai". It's not a Thai hybrid, but it looks like one. I've given all my Thai hybrids that look like this the same name - "Bang a Gong", a little tribute to the T Rex song.

Nice plant!! Looks a very lot like what the big box stores occasionaly carry as a 'Thai hybrid' which proved a lot hardier than the true Thai ones I had.

Second that, Phil. I bought 20 of those Thai hybrids when Tropical World first got them - $25 a piece! Three of them are still alive and it's a good thing there's something else growing up around each one of them. Nothing but 18" stems with a few scraggly leaves. But my "American Thai" is doing great. And the funny thing, you can see in the picture, it's surrounded by a Thai hybrid Crown of Thorns! All four of these Crotons have been in the ground for six years. Survived all three hurricanes and the coldest winter on record.

Aw, I appreciate that. I hope mine sports like yours some day! From your other post, looks like you need to get that other bed cleared out opposite of your current croton patch for less sun You've built up quite the collection from what I've seen!
Unrelated, try posting all those pineapples etc you want to rid yourself of on craigs list. I'm always surprised how quickly I get rid of my extras on there! More room for crotons then!
