Unusual looking Crotons

I flew over to San Jose on Saturday and then flew back to Quepos today. While at the Pavas Airport, I noticed these Crotons growing near the entrance to the front door. I started looking a little closer and noticed some strange shaped leaves. Not all of the leaves were shaped like this, but there were enough that I noticed there was something different about them.

The third and forth photos are just general shots of this particular Croton.

A few more photos. Has anyone ever seen Croton leaves shaped like this?

On the same bush, some of the leaves were pointed, others were more rounded, and then there were those weird shaped leaves that were mixed in. You can see the shape of the new green leaf on the first photo, and the new greenish/yellow leaf on the second photo

:( Bummer, definitely a unique leaf shape. Next time fain being drunk and fall into the plant taking a couple of branches with you

Just kidding. Jeff thanks for sharing, bizarre leaves. If you got that cutting and it consistantly did that leaf shape thing - you could have named the cultivar! ;)

Ron.

LOL @ Ron!

There are actually two of these Crotons, one on either side of the front entrance, and they both have forked leaves. I will get a cutting somehow. I just need to distract all the taxi drivers that hang out by the door...

Nature Air has been running specials of $32 each way between Quepos and Pavas (San Jose). For that price, it's cheaper for me to fly than drive the 3 hours to San Jose.
